Slip skirts and how to Style Them

Slip skirts and how to Style Them

Slip skirts are the new skinny black jeans. And by that I mean they are trending big on streets now and have become a staple. As fashion industry’s obsession with everything throwback continues, slip skirts steadily made their comeback into our lives, blessing us with their easy-to-style and -layer nature. From chunky sneakers and sweaters to strappy sandals and tight tops, slip skirts look elegant on every occasion, swinging and glistening with every motion.

It’s funny, however, to realize that slip skirts were originally designed to prevent dresses from looking see-through and keep us warm as an additional layer during colder months. Their biggest break-through was in early 1990s when the trend for underwear as outerwear gained fame, and the slip skirt was finally freed from its lingerie status, becoming the new daring fashion favorite.

The reasons why we, fashionistas, love slip skirts so much is because they are oh so versatile. Let’s not let the silky nature of the skirt fool us; in fact, styling them is so easy it’s like mastering a perfect smart casual dress-code.

My favorite ways to wear a slip skirt is pairing a slip skirt with white oversized T-shirt and white sneakers - this is the most casual-chic outfit there is. For colder seasons, a sweater, completely untucked over the skirt, and a pair of high-knee boots will compliment the skirt perfectly. Replace the sneakers with white strappy heels (another huge trend this season) and get a more feminine classy look.
