Let's Talk Skincare
Invest in your skin; it’s going to represent you for a very long time
— Linden Tyler

My relationship with skincare started when I realized I want to maintain my skin elasticity and smoothness much longer. Well as long as 21st century science and my genetics would allow. As a Google nerd, I started my research about various products, asked for advice from friends and went to Sephora to try. Although my journey in this complicated path has just started, I have already developed small routine that I do every day and I’m happy to share it with anyone interested in having healthier skin.

First, I want to say that beautiful skin requires commitment. You can’t expect to see results after 1-2 days. You have to commit for good. Give it some time and you’ll notice the change.

Second, I’d like to highlight the importance of using organic and natural products vs the ones packed with chemicals. Not all the chemicals are necessarily bad, but there is a list of chemicals you should avoid. Government doesn’t do a good job in regulating the cosmetic industry: only the companies who actually produce cosmetics have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of their products. There are no requirements to test the safety or to share the safety information, so WATCH OUT! Only after there was a safety concern at the Federal Court, FDA has the right to remove that product from the market. Quite scary for me!

Third, not all organic skincare products are created equal. Toxic ingredients might be present even in the products labeled organic, so reading the label is always a must.

With this little informative intro, I’d like to jump now to describing my routine and listing the products I currently use:

  1. Moisturizer: Right after washing my face in the morning, I moisturize my skin using Herbivore Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Cream. Always after using any moisturizer I was left with that oily feeling and the product would sit on the surface the next morning I woke up. I’m happy I found this one which also leaves a dewy finish, so it’s a perfect match! It’s very lightweight so I use it as a base under my foundation and it’s made with natural ingredients.

2. Makeup Removal: There’s no excuse for me not to remove my makeup before sleep. Imagine all that dirt from makeup clogging your pores and causing breakouts - no, we don’t want that! I started using Ogee Liquid Gold Cleansing Oil which smoothes my skin so much I use it even when I don’t have makeup on, but want a nice cleanse. Whichever cleanser you use, again, read the label and find the one that works for you.

3. Face Masks: Once or twice a week I use Bliss Deep-Detox Clay Mask and wipe my face with Resurfacing pads for smoother and brighter skin in the morning. I like clay masks cause I can actually feel the difference after each use - fresher and brighter-looking skin.

This is basically what I do - simple and easy to follow, but also good results. Comment below and tell me about your skincare routine!
